3P Art Excursion

3P Enjoyed an exciting excursion to the Art Gallery and Museum

3P Art Excursion

On 21 June 2018 my class went on an excursion to the Art Gallery of South Australia. We left school at 11:20am and arrived at the Gallery at 11:35am. It took a long time to get to the Art Gallery so we all made up some jokes and laughed the whole way there (it made the long drive feel a little bit shorter).

When we got to the Art Gallery some kids had to put their bags in a trolley. Then we went in and saw some of Monet and Renoir’s artwork. We talked about how the colours changed in each room and how light was used. In the first room it was dark but still showed how to use light. In the second room the artwork got lighter and had snowy landscapes. The last room was filled with colour especially blue and green and had lots of small brush strokes.

Next, we had our lunch in a grassy area in front of the Art Gallery before we went to the museum. In the museum we went to see the finalist artworks for The Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize.

We had a great excursion and we learnt lots of new things about paintings. We would love to go to the Art Gallery again.
