Get Educated:

We’ve recently come across some great podcasts with loads of different focuses that are great for quiet times (great for car rides!!)  One program that we’d like to share with you is the Imagine This podcasts that takes you on adventures to learn about our world!

Given the obvious link to the food web activity below, why don’t you spend 9 minutes learning about what spider webs are made from?

Keeping connected:

Write a food web story

A forest is a community. It consists of many plants and animals living together and interacting. The food web below shows the feeding relationships between forest plants and animals. Using this food web, write a short story to explain how forest plants and animals are interconnected. Try to include as many of the following terms as you can (if you don’t know what they mean, search online for a definition):

  • Habitat
  • Sunlight
  • Competition
  • Producer
  • Consumer
  • Predator
  • Prey
  • Scavenger
  • Carnivore
  • Herbivore
  • Mammal
  • Invertebrate

Manure call:

Simon is putting the call out for any garden manure (e.g. horse, sheep and chicken manure).  If you have any and are able to drop it off out the front of the maintenance shed, our gardens would greatly appreciate this.

Recycling:

Introducing Colgate Community Garden - - Oral Recycling Competition!!!  Please collect these at home and bring them into our collection box is in the front office when school returns.  Don’t forget to ask friends, family and colleagues to do the same.
