Year 7 PE - Keeping Active at Home

Over the past few weeks the Year 7s have been keeping active during their scheduled PE classes. Students have participated in online fitness, dance and yoga classes and much more. They have attempted the “Bring Sally Up” challenge, tried Spelling their Name with a fitness work out and have had some great fun along the way. They have also challenged their family to a PE game of Snakes and Ladders, made their own Ten Pin Bowling game and created their own obstacle course or fitness circuit.

Year 7SEAL and Year 8 Maths - Geometry

This week in year 8 maths we have started our Geometry Unit. To start the unit students were asked to take photos of examples of different angle types around their home. These are some examples of what they found.

Year 7 English - Reading Journals

In Year 7 English classes, students are using Reading Journals to accompany the texts they are reading. They use it not only document when they are reading, but also to make note of which strategies they are implementing, any issues they are facing, and to set goals.

 

Here is an example of an excellent Reading Journal from Rhayn Tearoa in 7E.

 

Year 12 Geography - Greenland

In Year 12 Geography, students were to write a blog about Greenland and the positive and negative impacts of melting glaciers.

Year 10 Art - NGV Recreations

Year 10 Art students were tasked with job of recreating artworks from the NGV collection.

Year 9 Maths - Algebra

Year 9 Math classes have been looking at using High Impact Strategies to solve Algebra problems.

Here is an example of a student from 9E using the process of Predicting, Summarising, Solving and Reflecting in order to solve problems.

 

Question 1

Gabby is twice as old as Kate and Kate is 3 years older than Joe. Brett is four times as old as Joe. If the sum of the ages of Kate and Brett is 63, find how old each person is.

Question 2

The short side of a rectangular garden bed is 5m. The longer side of the rectangular garden was recently extended by an extra 3 metres. If the garden bed has an area of 24 m2, what was the original length of the longer side before the extension?
