An Education in the Arts

An education in the arts is incredibly important for us as students in contemporary society.  We are bombarded by media at every hour of the day, heightened by the mass popularisation of social media.  The Arts give us a space where we can stop and reflect; we can take a break from our 'flashy' world.

An arts education has provided me with a range of diverse activities in which to be involved.  Not only has it enhanced my development by enabling me to learn about different cultures, but also to learn about different aspects of the arts, especially those that are offered here at Mt A, such as the FCIP music program.

In a world where our political climate, economy, and scientific progress are constantly focused upon, it is essential that we provide students with foundational lessons on human connection.  An Arts education provides students with a platform to explore a plethora of mediums that connect ideas, cultures, history, individuals, and communities, with no boundaries.  In a future that is uncertain, an Arts education drives students to explore human connection, and express essential messages of our past, present, and emerging future.

Personally, an Arts education has enhanced my life in many ways, specifically through Visual Art class.  This subject has given me a creative outlet and, although it is still quite structured, it has made me realise the direction and career path I would like my life to follow.  An Arts education enhances your life and prepares you for your future as it allows you to gain a greater understanding of the world.  Art, in all its forms, is a universal language that is relevant across all cultures, and learning this has really helped prepare me for the future.
