International Arts Education Week

Welcoming our Years 7-10 students back to school this week has provided us much cause to celebrate.  The Arts teachers are filled with joy to see their classrooms once again filled with students creating, collaborating, performing, and sharing stories through their arts making activities.  At Mount Alvernia College we are proud of our varied arts education program, offering students a strong foundation in the arts of Drama, Media, Music, and Visual Art, along with a range of cocurricular activities.  These include the chorale program, FCIP, Drama Club, and Art X.  Whilst many of these activities have been put on hold for a while, we excitedly look forward to the day in the not-too-distant future when all groups can come together again.

This week we invite the whole college community to celebrate with us through lunch time drama performances on the Village Green, a music concert on the oval, and a Drawing Mashup activity for Home Rooms to work on.  This week we also announce our first Artwork of the Month Awards, given to students currently studying Visual Art.  Our online Mount Alvernia Gallery of Art (MAGA) features work made so far this year by all Visual Art students.  Our Cultural Captain, Anna DeBellis, and her Cultural Committee have united to share these various initiatives with us all.
