From the Deputy's Desk

'The only constant is change'

Such are the famous words of ancient philosopher Heraclitus. As we near the close of term, I reflect on what has been one of the most extraordinary in my 27 years of teaching. It has been a time of immense disruption to society in general and to education in particular. Yet in all of this, I am reminded of the constancy of our God. He is eternal, and never changing. Malachi 3:6 tells us that God does not change and Hebrews 13:8 that Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever. We have just settled back into the routine of school, and soon the holidays will be here. Another change. I pray that you will be able to use the holidays as a time to rest and recuperate from the challenges of the term, but also to reflect on the goodness of our God who has sustained us and continues to do so.

Blessings to you all.

Free Dress Day - Change of Date

The Free dress day will now be next Thursday 25 June, so VCAL students can also be involved. Students are asked to bring a gold coin donation. Student leaders will be directing the donations to support different causes related to Cancer research.

School Photos

Our school Photo day has been rescheduled to Tuesday 28 July (Week 2, Term 3). Students should wear their full winter academic uniforms, including ties and blazers in Secondary. Please contact the uniform shop if you have any uniform needs to be prepared for this day.

Reports

Teachers are busy finalising reports for this semester. Reports will be uploaded to your child's Edumate portal on the last day of term - Friday 26 June. You will be able to see them in the parent portal. Please login, check the top left corner is highlighted on 'My Edumate'. In the menu at the left of the screen, click on 'Progress', then the tab with your child's name, and finally the tab to see results and reports. All past and current reports will be listed. If you do not have a login, or have forgotten your details, please call reception to reset your password.

Secondary reports show your child's progress against the Australian Curriculum standards, together with skills and attitudes, and a brief teacher comment.

In Primary, reports will have one main comment and then the list of the Australian Curriculum areas with their outcomes for all the subjects.

Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) also form part of the semester reports. In Primary, these are uploaded to the portal at the same time as academic semester reports (end of Terms 2 and 4). Please speak with your child's classroom teacher regarding these. In Secondary School, ILPs are uploaded at the start of Terms 2 and 4. Please speak with Katie Newton or Josie Hopkins in Secondary Learning Support if you have any questions about Secondary ILPs.

Due to COVID-19 remote learning challenges, the Victorian Curriculum and Reporting Authority (VRQA) has granted the College exemptions from reporting against some subjects. Please see the communication from your Head of School which explains what is affected in each area.
