Years 2-3

Message from the teachers

With all Grade 2/3 students now having returned to school, we are back into the swing of things. We were excited to resume our usual timetable again this week!

Everyone has enjoyed the past two weeks of social group learning experiences where students were consolidating their skills as Collaborators and Communicators to work as a team.

We have been working collaboratively to conduct some amazing experiments and projects. Some top highlights included:

1. A gravity-defying 'Walking Water' experiment.

2. Designing, making and testing a carrier for the Egg drop challenge (students were very pleased that the winners of this challenge got to egg the PPE wearing teachers!).

3. Creating cardboard houses with specific dimensions and rooms as part of a Mathematics Length activity.

Term 2 Timetable

Attached is the Term 2 timetable. Please take note of Library days, to bring any books to for return. In Term 3, we will be teaming up with the 4/5/6 teachers and students for an exciting new Inquiry-based Spanish learning experiences program on Friday mornings. More information to come. Watch this space!

Drop off/Pick up

Just a reminder that all students are to be dropped off at the main gate each morning and walk from there to the courtyard outside their classroom to line up.

Following Department guidelines, no parents are to walk students past the gate in the mornings. In the afternoon, Grade 2/3 students finish at 3:15 p.m. At this time, parents may wait under the covered area besides the ramp, between the staff room and Grade 2/3 classrooms.

If your child meets you at the main gate, teachers will walk students down to meet you. We kindly ask that you leave school grounds promptly after to comply with the new guidelines. Thank you for your patience and understanding with our new temporary finishing time arrangements.

Devices

We are asking students to bring their digital device to school with them each day again from Monday Week 10 (15th June). Please ensure they are labeled with your child's name and fully charged if possible. We have been tech-free since coming back to school, and will now be reintroducing the use of devices again sparingly throughout the week for publishing writing tasks, mathematics activities, students uploading their work to seesaw and so on.

Thank you for your cooperation with this.
