A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we welcome our parents to 3 Way Learning Conferences with your children and their teacher. These meetings can be held safely, by social distancing, as recommended by the Health Department. We have reinstated the use of our sign in kiosk in the front foyer. Please use the sanitiser provided and wipe the screen after use.  Signing in, will notify the class teacher that you have arrived. After signing in, go directly to your child’s classroom.

These meetings will replace the traditional School Report for Semester 1 and will be an ideal time to strengthen the communication between home and school with regards to your child’s learning needs. With the support of the teachers, all the students have been reflecting on how they are going with their learning and we look forward to input from parents so that we can plan exciting and challenging learning experiences for ALL our students. Next week, a written record of the 3 Way Conference will be sent home to parents. I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to make an appointment via Compass with your child’s teacher.

Wearing the correct school uniform every day is one way of demonstrating pride in our school. It also gives a message to the wider community, that personal appearance is important at St Joey’s. I encourage all parents to adhere to our uniform policy and ensure your children leave home dressed correctly. One of the really special features of our school is our free Swap Shop. Currently we have excellent supplies of good quality uniforms available. As we are asking parents to not come into school unless it is essential, please ring Kate Thompson and she will be happy to send clothing items home with your child.

On Friday the School Performance Leaders; Justin Matthews, Jason Hanrahan and Rod Whelan from the Catholic Schools Office will be visiting our school. They will be talking to staff and students about their experiences with learning from home.

Currently there are many areas of unrest in our world and I encourage you to take a few minutes as a family to pray for those in need.

Take care and be safe
