Welcome

Welcome back to Term Three 5/6 families! Adaptability looks like being the key to this very strange year as we enter phase two of Online Learning. While there were many successes that came out of our last encounter with Online Learning it is important that we take out some key insights from last time, as well as endeavour to freshen up the experience for the students. Hence there will be some familiarity about the approach this time but there will also be some significant changes.

The fundamentals of Literacy and Mathematics will be central to all that we do this term as well as a more targeted approach and a focus on small groups during the majority of our Zoom sessions. Each student during a week will enjoy the benefit of meeting in a Reading group of up to six students as well as a focus group with a maximum of eight students. The focus groups will primarily address Writing skills each week.

Another major change is the introduction of a Personal Passion Project which each student will undertake. The details of these will be unveiled to the students over the course of the next couple of weeks with the allotted project time beginning on the Wednesday of Week 3. This however, will be very much an opportunity for students to take ownership of their learning and indulge in a challenge connected to an individual interest of theirs.
