While this term has been a highly disruptive one for everyone, staff and students have persevered with the Certificate III in Agriculture program. We are now at a point where educational programs have almost returned to normal. Excursions are still problematic but we have been given approval to commence incursions, subject to a number of conditions. This means that students will once again be involved in both Murdoch University programs at Beef and Dairy. A number of members from the Agricultural Advisory Committee also regularly present material to staff and students, which will be able to recommence.
Agricultural Certificates
I have recently been reviewing student performance and this will result in a number of conversations with students, staff and parents as to what is required to complete each qualification. It’s critical that we monitor and adjust student programs to maximise opportunities for each student to be successful. Each qualification is made up of 16 units, from here we will be strategic in both our approach to achieving the qualification and providing pathways into post school options, which students have already identified.
If any parents have concerns regarding their child’s progress, please make contact with me as soon as possible so we can work on suitable solutions to any problems you may have. With a suitable schedule and correct rostering, we can give students ample opportunity to finish their work to a satisfactory standard.
Work Placement
A number of students and parents have inquired regarding work placement /experience. Unfortunately, this is still an area of risk for both students and supervising staff so the Department of Education is continuing with the ban on this activity.
Online Learning
Staff, students and parents have all had to make adjustments with online learning over the last few weeks. We did have students complete farm tasks at home and send in photos of the activities they preformed. Well done to everyone.
