Something to Celebrate
It is great to have so many students back at the College. It is even better to know that as I am writing this article, we are welcoming the remaining students back. It is certainly cause to celebrate!! In a COVID safe way of course!!!
Thank you
Thank you to our students and parents for your enormous effort over the last two months. We are aware how hard it has been to adjust to a totally different style of learning and how challenging Learning from Home has been. I am led to believe that some parents now have a renewed appreciation of how hard it is to motivate their child to do book work!
I must acknowledge the wonderful support and understanding we have received from our students and parents throughout the last two months. Your patience, cooperation and appreciation of the challenges Class staff have faced has been very encouraging and has certainly made our lives easier. Thank you.
Life-long Learning
I must commend my Class staff. I am sure few people will really appreciate just how tirelessly they have worked over the last couple of months. Along with the students and parents, they have also had to learn many new skills in a short space of time. It certainly demonstrates that we are all life-long learners.
Our Superheroes
I must acknowledge the outstanding work of the cleaning and kitchen staff. Whilst our College has always been the cleanest school I have ever worked at, it has now gone to a whole new level! Our cleaners have been so accommodating, whizzing into classrooms between classes, sanitising everything in sight and whizzing out just as quickly. They truly are our superheroes, ensuring the environment we work in is as safe as it possibly can be.
Making 2020 Count
As students return to school it is essential that they settle back in quickly, apply themselves consistently in class and try to establish a regular study routine outside of class. Teachers understand that some students have found Learning from Home extremely challenging and they have not achieved at home what they would have normally achieved, if at school. However, we don’t want students using this as an ongoing excuse, resulting in a wasted year.
It is now time to work hard and to make up for any lost learning time. It has never been more critical that students really apply themselves in class and complete all set work both in and out of class. By doing this, teachers will be able to help students cover all the required course content and assist them to still achieve their academic goals for 2020.
ATAR Exam Dates
Due to the recent disruption to student learning the Year 11 and 12 ATAR exam dates have been modified from what was previously advertised. Please see separate schedule in this Newsletter.
Early University Offers
Our Year 12 students are currently in the process of considering and applying for early university offers that have been made available. Each university is offering different alternatives and opportunities, but in light of the interruption to their Year 12 studies, all are looking at using Year 11 results to offer students secured positions in a wide selection of courses for 2021. ATAR students are strongly encouraged to apply for these early offers.
Communication is the Key to Success
A close working relationship between parent/carers, staff and students is vitally important to ensure smooth operations and for success at school. Please continue to work with us, encourage your child to make the most of the opportunities being back at school provides them and inform us of any issues that may affect your child’s attitude and progress in class.
If parents have concerns or require subject specific information please start by contacting you child’s teacher in that area.
Head of Department (HOD) Class Role
As HOD Class my role is to undertake the administrative requirements within the class area. This involves overseeing the delivery and assessment of all programs, monitoring student progress as well as being involved in the management of student behaviour within the class area.
Please feel free to contact me at the College on 9782 2100 or via email with any queries or concerns in regards to the above matters or your child’s progress within the class area.
