How things can change so dramatically in such a short period of time. With change, generally the very best in people is bought to the fore. Not all "heroes" wear capes. Staff across all areas of the College have certainly stepped up when needed.
The kitchen and cleaning staff have been amazing during this difficult time. Together with the Residential team, everyone has taken it in their stride. To each and everyone, a huge thank you from me.
Cleaners
We have extra cleaners undertaking "new" duties associated with COVID-19. As the students exit the classrooms, dining room and gym, the 'cleaning squad' move in and cleanse everything.
We have changed how students shower and now require students to work with us on a roster system to ensure that the showers are cleaned in between each student's shower. Thank you for everyone's co operation.
Closing Dorms During Breaks
To assist the cleaners in doing such a great job at keeping us santised and safe, we have taken the step of not allowing students to access the dorms during lunch, morning and afternoon recess. We thank you for your cooperation.
Laundry
All laundry will be sent to the commercial laundry onsite. Dorm laundries will remain closed until further notice. All students are asked to bring a small mesh laundry bag to put their smalls inside to help keep them together when washing.
Weekend Activities
Staff have certainly thought outside the box in planning activities for the first couple of weekends in boarding. The list of things on offer has been extensive. We have had macrame, craft, bingo, quiz night, bonfires, metal detecting, fire pit and trips to the Harvey dam to name a few.
Replacement of Equipment
We have replaced the two pool tables that had broken, with a bigger and far stronger one.
We have also purchased a "Foosball" table and a two player games table which has 60 computer games on it.
Use of Gym/Music Room
As we are currently using the gym as our social distancing "meals" area, we therefore are unable to use it for sport.
The weights room will be opening up, but like the rest of the community, limited numbers and extra hygiene measures will be undertaken.
The music room will also operate on a similar program.
MotorX Track
The track will open early June. We are pleased to announce that we have secured the services of a very experienced operator in Mr Ray Gerrard to assist in the overseeing of all operations. Thankyou and welcome aboard Ray.
Horse Riding
Monday after hours' horse riding will be overseen by Ms Mel Taylor.
Sickness
Just to reiterate on Health and Education Department guidelines, sick students can no longer stay in the sick bay and will be required to be collected by parents/guardians as soon as possible.
Friday Departures
We have decided to split the departures on Friday to assist in social distancing and keeping everyone staff.
Day students - will depart immediately after the end of class on Friday at 2.25pm.
Train students - our students on the train will be the next group to depart around 2.50pm.
Boarding students - will depart at 3.00pm.
To keep the office clear, we will have all Boarding students report to the rear of the Admin office window to sign out with residential staff on REACH.
We ask all student drivers to have their passengers close by before we will handover keys. This keeps everything flowing nicely.
Staff will handover Duty of Care to parents/guardians at the front of the admin office, once again maintaining social distancing.
Visitors to the College
No visitors/parents are allowed onto College grounds unless prior arrangement has been made.
We understand there has been many changes in residence and we would like to thank parents and students for their cooperation.
