Geography News

On Thursday the 16th of March, the two Year 11 Geography classes travelled to Kinglake to investigate the environmental, social and economic impacts of the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires.

We started off collecting some environmental data at the Mason Falls waterfall area, with some students even lucky enough to see an endangered lyrebird in the wild.

Afterwards students were able to collect some economic and social data in Kinglake town, as well as enjoy some lunch. We were treated to a beautiful sunny day, and despite a winding drive up, it was an all in all very successful fieldwork.

Thanks to Ms. Muirden and Ms. Moraitis for their help.
