School Wide Positive Behaviour Support and Respectful Relationships News

General Store before school

There has been an increasing number of students who are accessing the Cranbourne South General Store before school.  In addition, they are walking to school eating high sugar and high fat foods.  Starting the day with such food can lead to children feeling moody or Irritable, sluggish or fatigued.

We ask parents to speak with their children about this and provide alternatives to this practice.

All classrooms have a planned, weekly Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) lesson.  These lessons can include a variety of activities from different sourrces such as, School Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPBS), Zones of Regulation and Respectful Relationship core units.  SEL are conducted by the classroom teacher.

Respectful Relationships education is a core component of the Victorian Curriculum from Foundation to year 12. It is all about embedding a culture of respect and equality across the entire school community. Topics can include Emotional Literacy, Personal Strengths, Positive Coping, Problem Solving, Help Seeking and Positive Gender Relations. All content is age appropriate.

Respectful Relationships promotes respect and gender equality and helps students learn how to build healthy relationships. It prepares students to face challenges by developing problem-solving skills and building resilience and confidence.

Schools involved in the Respectful Relationships initiative are building a culture of respect and gender equality, by looking at their practices and policies to drive meaningful change.

Attitude to School Survey

Year 4 - 6

We value student voice as a means to improving student engagement, wellbeing and quality instruction and are conducting a survey to find out what your child thinks of our school. The Attitudes to School Survey is an annual student survey offered by the DET to assist schools in gaining an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school.  CSPS will use the survey results to plan programs and activities to improve your child's schooling experience.Students from Year 4 to 6 at our school will participate in the survey. Your child will complete the survey online during school hours using a purpose built secure online survey tool.  It is important to note that we are not in any way ‘testing’ your child. Your child has the right to refuse or withdraw from the survey at any point before, during, or after completion of the survey.

Your child will be provided with a unique login to complete the survey. The student login is an assigned identifier that may be used to link data for statistical and research purposes only. All responses to the survey are kept anonymous in the response file. Personal identification data will not be recorded in the survey response file. This ensures that the confidentiality of your child’s responses is protected at all times.

The survey occurs in term 2 and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. All survey data that is made available in reports are for groups of students only so that no individual student can be identified.

CSPS will communicate the survey results to parents and carers through its annual Report to the School Community.
