District Cross Country

At the end of term 1 we had 44 students head to Casey Fields to represent the school at District Cross Country.

It was safe to say every single child did both themselves and the school proud. Thankyou to Lyn Dean for volunteering her time as a course marshall. Well done to Miss A, Mrs Waiti and Mr Corcoran who cheered the students on, we were by far the best behaved school on the day. Numerous other staff commented on it.

Congratulations to Lara A, Sophie A, Ava T, Madalee W, Chase V and Elliot F who have all qualified for the Division Carnival. We know you will try your best!

Junior House Athletics

On the last day of term 1 it was foundation, year 1 and year 2 students turn for their Athletics carnival. It was an event full of colour and fun. A big well done to the House Captain and other school leaders who ran the carnival. They all did an amazing job!

New House Flags

If you attended the recent Athletics carnivals you would have noticed our brand new house flags for Wiiny, Baany, Biik and Munmut.

We also have a new C.S.P.S flag which we can now take to District sporting events. These are displayed in the Murrup building if you have not had a chance to check them out.

Special thanks to Lyn Dean for getting us in contact with a great supplier, staff member Kylie Psalia for all her work with communicating with both the supplier and our fabulous parent Emma Randall, who worked on the designs.

A.F.L clinics

During week 2 we were fortunate enough to have Ben from A.F.L Victoria come and conduct a footy clinic with each class. Some of the mini games they played were called Taggers Vs Savers, Snatch, Top of the Chain and Kicking for Cones. All the students had lots of fun and Ben was most impressed with everyone's give it a go attitude.

Social Wellbeing

Foundation

The Foundation students have started the term practicing their social skills. Through the use of Cooperative Learning activities like Match Mine, we have been improving our whole body listening skills.

Junior, Middle and Senior School

The remainder of the school have been developing their teamwork skills. All classes agreed that for a team to be successful they need to listen, communicate, encourage, help each other and show respect. we have played a variety of Cooperative Learning games such as Balloon Bounce, Object Move and Escort Relays.

Artistic Flair

Foundation

Students in Foundation were introduced to Music through body percussion, songs and chants and through playing percussion instruments. They tested their listening skills when shaking their "shaker egg" and enjoyed shaking them fast and slow. They used tone blocks to 'tap' the rhythm of their name. Perhaps you could ask them to clap the rhythm of their name at home?

Junior School

Students in Year 1 and 2 have really enjoyed their Music lessons and were super keen to play the instruments! They have been learning about beat and rhythm through songs, chants, playing instruments and body percussion. Students have been introduced to basic notation and will build their knowledge of TA's and TI-TI's and playing sounds fast or slow. Maybe they can sing and clap the Bumble Bee song for you?

Middle School

Students in Year 3 and 4 have begun their music lessons with a focus on exploring beat and rhythm through songs, chants and the use of percussion instruments. The Djembe drums were a favourite, especially when they were shown how to 'sit' on them when playing. Students in Year 3 also used recycled materials to create their own instruments.

Senior School

Grade 5/6's have been finishing their wire sculptures from Term 1 by filling out with scrunched paper, securing with thin florist wire and finally wrapping with masking tape before painting. Students also decorated their mounting block with indigenous designs before preparing their figure into position for mounting. Students are looking forward to displaying their hard work at the Arts Fiesta in Term 4.

5 P's

Look out for the 5 giant P's in the yard soon! Students have provided their ideas and developed varied designs before signing their names onto a letter P to recognise the part they play in upholding the school values of Purpose, Positivity, Persistence, Passion and Pride.  Ask your child to show you where their symbol/name is.
