 2023 Buckley House Leaders

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much,” These are some profound words of wisdom by Helen Keller. It is the mindset of our 2023 Buckley House leaders. In Buckley House we have all started to make our school an even better place to be a part of. Our leaders are ensuring that students’ voices are heard and are supporting students with what they need to make their dream a reality.

The school Captains have already begun the responsibilities and hosted three incredible assemblies. They have also begun to select and prepare a major sustainability initiative that is aimed to be rolled out later this term. Both of the Captains of Buckley House attended Ivanhoe Grammar School since ELC 3 and have taken on many leadership opportunities since that time. They are extremely excited to be representing all Buckley House students to the rest of IGS and local community this year.

Our House Captains have already proven to be fabulous by hosting a very successful House Assembly in Term One. They also led an extraordinary Buckley House swimming carnival that all students participated and had a wonderful time in. It was a great day full of House spirit that was encouraged by the House Captains. Their immense enthusiasm and commitment to their house is astonishing. We look forward to many more house events led by these amazing leaders.

Our Global Captains have wasted no time and already started their weekly Monday lunchtime meetings. In these meetings they discuss school issues and ways to solve them. They then vote on the best ideas and implement them into Buckley House. We look forward to seeing the amazing initiatives they will introduce throughout the year. 

Although these leaders have formal roles, all Year 6 students will be presented with leadership opportunities throughout the year, and they will surely make the most of them. All students have a Foundation buddy and are taking leadership in guiding and looking after them. 

The Buckley House Leaders are wished success this year and can’t wait to see the wonderfull impact they will leave on our School.    

The Buckley House captains were inducted in Buckley House on the 13 of February 2023.
