From the

Principal

Dear Parents / Carers,

The first week of the new term was certainly action packed!

We welcomed Signor Nico to Rowville Primary School. He is a native Italian speaker, with expertise in music and a passion for sharing his love of language with the school community. He will be taking classes based on singing, rhyme and dance from Foundation to Year 2.

Welcome Signor
Welcome Signor

Congratulations to Mrs Chick and her husband, on the safe arrival of Alexander Jack who was born on ANZAC Day.

The term commenced with our Student Leaders and Ceremonies and Special Events Parliamentary Working Party leading our ANZAC Day ceremony. The ANZAC Day public holiday presented us with an opportunity to pause and reflect. Originally ANZAC was a set of initials that described the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who were in Egypt in the First World War. The initials stood for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps and in 1915, those men, together with British, Indian and French soldiers were sent to fight in the part of Turkey known as the Gallipoli Peninsula. It was because of the way those Australians and New Zealanders fought, and the way they faced the hardships and dangers that confronted them, that the initials became a word.

So how is ANZAC Day relevant to us as a school community? The ANZAC spirit represents a sense of purpose and direction. The original ANZACs knew what they had to do, they knew of the dangers and the difficulties, but they did not let those difficulties stop them from obeying their orders. But the soldiers on the ground stayed until their leaders decided it was time to withdraw.

The highlight of the week was the School Run 4 Fun Colour Explosion that was held last Thursday. The event would not have been possible without the support of our parents. I would like to thank Sarah Verstak, Sharon Russell, Kieron Collins, Yvette McCormack, Tegan Velluto, Teresa Santilli, Stevie Hjorth, Tammie Western, Andrea Kelaart, Phillip Farrugia, Michael Brown, Georgia Balourdos, Dora Kalogeros, Rebecca Witney, Emily Chan, Kate Kirk, Tom Hjorth, Danii Carter, Danielle Farrugia, Michelle Hau, Viktoria Molnar, Lauren Dalton, Silvia Mellech, Lynne Cray, Karla Knower, Billie Wyckelsma, Karen Jackson, Aaron Jackson, Andrea Szymanski, Jessica Bale, Daniela Starfas, Belinda Vaughan and Tiffany Markovic.
