Principal's Message

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Term 1 has certainly been a busy and productive one. I congratulate the children on all their efforts this term. A special congratulations to our amazing Prep students who have completed their first term at primary school. It is amazing how much they have learnt in the short time they have been at school. I am sure, like the rest of the students (and teachers!), that they are ready for a well-deserved break.

This week – Holy Week – engages us in many ways. We can reflect upon the message of Jesus that we ‘do this in memory of me’ and of the call to service; or we can reflect upon the suffering of Jesus for us on Good Friday, and celebrate the risen Christ on Easter Sunday. Whatever angle we choose to take, it is the most important celebration in the Christian calendar.

This week the children have participated in daily prayer services to recognise events during Holy Week; Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday and Good Friday. Thank you to the parents and families who have also attended to support these reflective moments. There will be a special Easter prayer service on the first day of next Term.

From our School Captains

It's been wonderful to hear from everyone about the hard work and achievements of all the students across all the year levels. It's clear that they have been engaged in a diverse range of subjects and have been learning a lot!

It’s been a very eventful and diverse term for our school community! We’ve had so many opportunities for learning and engagement with different topics and community activities.

Harmony Day and celebrations of Indigenous culture were important for promoting diversity and inclusivity, while the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden and STEM lab activities helped students develop important life skills and interests. Interschool sports, Gala Day and the Colour Run provided opportunities for physical activity, unity and team building, while the Inform and Empower cyber safety webinars helped students stay safe in the digital world.

Congratulations to you all on your progress and accomplishments this term. We hope that you all have a restful break and return to school in Term 2 feeling refreshed and ready to continue your learning journey.

Colour Explosion

The Colour Explosion was a fantastic fun day for our students....and teachers......and parents. A special thanks to Anna Saruallo and Anna Belmuda for their work in coordinating this event. A great effort indeed! Anna and Anna have included a detailed report in this newsletter.

We are looking at putting the funds raised towards the resurfacing of the tennis courts. We are currently in the process of getting quotes. The first quote has come in at

$125 000. Let's hope the next two quotes are a great deal lower.

5/6 Camp

Our Year 5/6 students head off on camp in the first week of Term 2. They are heading to Forest Edge Camp in Neerim East on Wednesday 26th April and returning on Friday 28th April. We look forward to hearing of their adventurous experiences when they return.

Hats

'On the first of May put you hats away'. Children will be required to wear their hats for the first week of Term 2. They can then be taken home to be washed, ready for Term 4.

School Fee Statements

Thank you to those families who have either paid their fees in full or are making regular payments through the year. An updated statement will be emailed in the second week of Term 2. If you are having any difficulties paying or would like us to start up a payment plan I invite you to make contact with me to discuss payment options.

I hope you have a lovely break, enjoying the time with your children.

Please keep safe if you are travelling and I pray you have a happy and holy Easter.

Take care
