Message from the Principal

Dear Parents

The end of Term Three has arrived upon us very quickly.

My sincere thanks to the school community for your understanding and support this term. It has been a challenging term with both student and staff illness.  The students have been terrific.  They have demonstrated adaptability, collaboration, and resilience.  My thanks to all our staff, who have taken on additional roles to ensure that we could maintain continuity of learning for our students.

A very big thank you to our Parents and Friends for organising another successful Father’s Day stall.  Thank you to the many volunteers who helped this event run very smoothly.  The students were excited to shop for presents for their dad.   It was wonderful to see so many fathers present at the Assembly.  We hope you enjoyed the presentations from our students

After the restrictions we endured over the past two years, our students were finally able to come together last Thursday at either one of the two discos.  For many of our students, particularly our Juniors, this was their first experience of such an event and it was lovely to see them dancing, singing and having a wonderful time.  Thanks to our Parents and Friends for organising this successful event.  Thanks to many parents who helped throughout the night.

CONFIRMATION

Congratulations to our Year 6 students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Friday 2nd September in a lovely ceremony presided over by Bishop Terry Curtain.  It was a very special occasion for the students and their families.  I would like to thank all those who were involved in preparing the students for this important sacrament, particularly their teachers Rosa, Sally, Jill.  Thankyou also to Pauline for organising a beautiful mass to celebrate this event.  Thank you also to Fr Manny for his ongoing support of our students in their preparation and at the mass.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

In Term 4 students will be required to wear the correct Summer school uniform.  Students are required to wear their school hats while at school and are strongly encouraged to wear them when walking to and from school.  Students without a school hat will be required to sit in a shaded area during breaks.  With the UV index much higher this term, parents are encouraged to ensure that their child also wears sunscreen.  A friendly reminder that students are only permitted to wear their sneakers on PE or Interschool Sports Days.

Thankyou to all the families who are attending our 3 way conversations this week.  I trust that you will find the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress beneficial.

And finally, a very big thankyou to our amazing staff.  We have navigated a challenging term but have managed to provide outstanding learning opportunities for our students.  We have worked together to ensure that Teaching and Learning and Student Wellbeing remain a priority.

I wish everyone a wonderful break.

May St Joseph the Worker continue to bless us and watch over us.

Maria Raso

End of Term Prayer

We thank you Lord, for this term. For our challenges, our successes, and the mistakes from which we have learnt. Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.

Give us strength and courage to do what is right: to be witnesses of our faith. Help us to be a practical Christian these holidays, to appreciate what others do for us, to give time and effort to help others. To be peacemakers in our family.

Keep us safe in our activities; give us good rest and good fun. Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term. We thank you for our classmates, teachers, parents and a community that cares for us.

May we always be conscious of you in our lives.

Amen.
