Celebrating Book Week!

In Week 5 we celebrated Children’s Book Week.  Book Week is a time when schools and public libraries spend one magnificent week celebrating books, Australian children's authors and illustrators and the importance of reading.  This year’s theme was ‘Dreaming with eyes open…’ and students had a fun week highlighting the importance of reading and writing and engaging with quality Australian literature.

As part of Book Week activities, students learnt about a First Nations author or illustrator. Students participated in various literacy and art experiences to step into the author or illustrator’s story and responded to the text in an imaginative way.  Students showcased their learning with a gallery walk where each class had the opportunity to share their learning with their peers.

We received numerous Book Week competition entries and we congratulate all students on their imaginative and creative posters.

The weather was perfect for our annual Book Week Dress Up Parade where many colourful and creative book characters came to life.  We thank all the families and community members for attending the Book Week parade and joining us for the open classroom morning.

Below are a few highlights from this year’s Book Week celebrations.
