School Wide Positive Behaviour System

Positive Acknowledgment Chronicle

Schoolwide Positive Behaviour System (SWPBS) is a cornerstone of our Wellbeing and Inclusion Framework at Greater Shepparton Secondary College.  SWPBS brings together school communities to develop positive, safe and supportive learning cultures through the explicit teaching of respectful and positive behaviours, consistent response to behaviours of concern; and feedback and positive acknowledgement of students who demonstrate our expected behaviours.

One way  our staff acknowledges students is by a positive acknowledgement chronicle on Compass. Students can check their positive acknowledgment chronicles online by clicking on their initials in the top right corner of the initial Compass page.  This will take them to a page where they can see how many positive chronicles they have earned, with notes telling them what they were given for, and which teacher has awarded them.

Current SWPBS PAC Cup Focus

Bringing a Planner to all classes and using the planner as a communication tool

The Positive Acknowledgment Chronicles (PAC Cup) aims to promote House and Neighbourhood connection and pride through acknowledging students who are demonstrating our college values of aspiration, integrity, responsibility and respect throughout the school day. The focus of bringing a planner to all classes emphasises the high expectations we have for all learners in relation to their organisational skills.

The planner is an effective way of recording due dates, and can be used as a communication tool between the classroom teacher and parents/carers. When teachers enter a positive chronicle on Compass for students bringing their planner, a daily tally is calculated for each House and Neighbourhood. On September 15th, the winning house, based on the highest number of positive chronicles for bringing a planner to all classes, will be announced.  In recognition of their efforts, this House will be acknowledged with a free lunch.

As of last Friday, our top four houses are:

Loddon House (Bayuna Neighbourhood) 735 positive chronicles

Murray House (Biyala Neighbourhood) 342 positive chronicles

Keiwa House (Dharnya Neighbourhood) 324 positive chronicles

Warrego House (Bayuna Neighbourhood) 293 positive chronicles

Goulburn House (Dharnya) is only a bit behind Warrego on 1204 positive chronicles – as is Campaspe (Dharnya) on 1154.

May the best house win!
