Junior School

This week’s newsletter is brought to you by books, snow and sport!

Both campuses have celebrated Book Week this week and all of the children have had a wonderful time. All of the children dressed up in wonderful costumes and parents must be congratulated on all of the sewing, paper macheing and embellishing they helped their children with. The children also loved exploring the shortlisted books in Library lessons and in class time.

Students at Springwood completed rotating activities based on books and did cooking, art and more. At Wentworth Falls, classes decorated their classroom doors with some of their favourite books. Everyone made “book packs” to collate and create activities based on books, then shared their activities with friends.

On Wednesday, we had a large team of students head to SOPAC for the HICES Athletics Carnival. Our students performed well and showed great sportsmanship. Congratulations to Matilda Hewitt who has made the CIS Carnival where she will compete in the 200m run.

The other excitement around the campus at Wentworth Falls this week was snow! This was a fabulous thing to experience and our students had so much fun playing and learning outside.

Basketball - Term 3, Week 6

On Monday, 22nd August, the BMGS Swish played the Alley Oops. It wasn't long before the good shooting and strong defence of BMGS had the boys up 18-1, which quickly led to the enforcement of the mercy rules. Our defence was forced to relax and eventually even stop. But this didn’t stop the dominant scoring and passing. After a long and frustrating game. The BMGS swish won 42-5, which will hopefully place the team in range of the top 4teams, and a spot in the Finals.

On Tuesday, 17th August, the BMGS Stars did their usual warm up routine with the two Springwood coaches, followed by two mini games. Unfortunately, I was not present to see the Stars play but it was reported to me that then won one game and lost the other. As always, the team tried their absolute best and were great sports throughout the games.
