Principal's Message

 Dear families,

I want to start first and foremost congratulating the five competitors on their efforts in the NWPSSA Athletics Carnival held in Tamworth last Friday. I heard reports of a very wet day but it certainly didn’t dampen our Kentucky competitive spirit! Aggie Street, Lacey Swilks, Blake Swilks, Charlie Zirkler and Jordan Archibald gave it their all and achieved some outstanding results.

Lacey Swilks came second (fractionally missing out on first place) in her 100-metre dash and jumped a whopping 2.82 metres in long jump.

Aggie came forth place in her heat in the 100-metre dash.

Blake came third in his heat in the 200-metre dash and jumped 1.35 metres in high jump.

The relay team consisting of Jordan, Charlie, Lacey and Blake came second in the Elizabeth Austen relay race for schools with under 26 enrolled students.

As a result, Lacey and also the relay team have made it to the NSWPSSA Championships in Sydney. This two-day event will be held on the 19th and 20th of October. Our specialised PE teacher Mr Crawford will be closely working with these children in the coming weeks to prepare them for this large and exciting event. Congratulations to all of you and thank you for all the parents involved.

Broken Bay Excursion:

Thank you to the parents who have sent the note and deposit back to the school for the upcoming 5/6 Sport and Recreation camp to Broken Bay. The new date for the camp is now Monday the 24th to Wednesday the 26th of October. Official forms to be completed online will be dispersed in the coming weeks and final payment due dates will be arranged. Mrs Street and myself are very much looking forward the camp.

Parent Teacher Interviews:

Parent Teacher interviews have commenced in both classes. If you still wish to book a time with either Miss Patterson or myself, please do so via the SkoolLoop App or by contacting the school.

NAPLAN

For those students in years 3 and 5 who participated in the NAPLAN testing last term, a letter with your child’s results has been sent home with them.

Art Cluster Day:

Next Friday 16th of September, all students will be involved in an Art Cluster Day at our school. This will involve a rehearsal of the New England Sings! songs with a conductor from NECOM as well as a weaving workshop with NERAM. The workshop will run until lunchtime.

Gathering and NAIDOC Week Excursion:

We will be hosting our term 3 gathering during NAIDOC week. This will be Tuesday 20th September at 10am. A morning tea will be held after the assembly for parent and students. In addition to this, and as part of our continued NAIDOC week celebrations, the school has organised a morning excursion to Bulagaranda (Mount Yarrowyck). This will involve students going on a bush walk to visit the Aboriginal Cave Painting site and will be held on Thursday 22nd September. Permission note have been sent home with your child/ren and needs to be returned as soon as possible.

Thank you
