Chaplain's Corner

Hi Everyone,

Wow, what a busy term with lots of special activities!  There is an air of excitement as we come to the end of another term.  I can ‘feel’ it in the air amongst both staff and students! The school yard is LOUDER!  Of course, some of it has been because of special activities over the last couple of weeks too.

I want to remind you that ‘holidays’ are for renewal through relaxation, and doing other activities we enjoy. Don’t forget to encourage your children and young people to take a SOCIAL MEDIA AND GAMING BREAK TOO!  Recently I asked a student what type of holidays he likes.  He replied ‘being in my room playing games.’  When I asked him about the beach or camping, he replied ‘yeah, but I prefer gaming!’  This really concerned me because it seemed to be becoming ‘an addiction’ and he named a couple of particular games he likes.  The danger of these was that like many online games, they include ‘chats’.  So, we had a serious discussion around whether we really know ALL the people we chat too??

If you are noticing a change in attitude and demeanour of your young person, take note of how much time they are spending online.

So, I encourage you to encourage your children to TAKE A ‘BRAIN’ BREAK and to be PHYSICALLY AND SOCIALLY active over the term break, especially socially, and to discover new things.  MAY YOUR FAMILY ENJOY A RESTFUL AND EXCITING TIME OF RENEWAL!

                                                        Take Care!
