A Look at Learning
Mrs Matilda Hunt
This term, Olive and Sienna in Year 6 have been challenged by Mr Chapman from O’Connor Catholic College. Mr Chapman has Zoomed in each week to work with our students on complex Stage 4 Mathematics concepts. Next term Mr Chapman will be on leave so he has organised a peer tutor for Olive and Sienna. A very big shout out to Mr Chapman for sharing his love of maths and expertise. Thank you to Miss Martin for making the link between schools and for seeking out enrichment opportunities for our students.
Last week, Year 3/4 were learning about length and how to calculate the perimeter and area of a shape. They designed their dream farm, and had to calculate the area of each paddock and how much fencing would be required for the perimeter. As an extension, some students replicated their farm in digital form. Outstanding maths work, 3/4!
Year 3/4 have spent the last 8 weeks researching Ancient Chinese Fables. They were required to find a story with a moral ending and create a shadow puppet play. This integrated our Languages Unit with Art and Drama. We had such an interesting time discussing and relating our own lives to these stories. The students then researched how to make shadow puppets and were let loose to create and inspire the audience. Well done to every student you did a fantastic job.

Mrs Cox doesn't need an excuse to become a crazy scientist, but a belated science week was the reason this week!
On the agenda was:
Bubble-ology: making the perfect solution, blowing the biggest bubble, cutting bubbles and bubbles within bubbles.
Forces: Balloon zip lines and races.
Chemical Reactions: Fizzy Sherbet faces, volcano bottle and blowing balloons up with carbon dioxide.
Our Transition students have been very busy learning about letters, sounds and numbers. Have a look at their great work!
Congratulations to the following students who have successfully completed this year's Premier's Reading Challenge. Certificates will be presented later in the year.
