Congratulations to Vancara Lockyer, Clancy Robinson, Rylan Wilson & Chaise Martin from Year 2 for receiving the Sacrament of First Reconciliation last Monday. We are so proud of these students for preparing so well to receive this sacrament and then being so courageous on the day to undertake their commitment. Well done to all of you.
We are very grateful to Fr Peterpaul from the Inverell Parish who came to celebrate this sacrament with our students. Fr Peterpaul is a newly ordained priest in the Armidale Diocese, however, he was wonderful with the students and guided them through the tasks associated with confessing of sins and completing penance to receive the forgiveness of God. Thank you also to the teachers in Year 1/2 Mrs Theresa Grills and Mrs Angela Hayes for helping prepare our students.
During the month of October, our Catholic Schools undertake fundraising and awareness programs for children in countries around the world who are less fortunate than ourselves. This year our Year 5/6 class have planned some fun activities for students to get involved to help out disadvantaged children from Ethiopia.
On Friday 21st October all students are invited to wear crazy socks to school with their uniform for a gold coin or small money donation. Students will then get to play some fun activities organised by the Year 5/6 class including soccer games, parachute games, sock dance parties and loads more. Students will also need to bring a pair of old socks to school on the day to use to make a sock puppet or sock craft. Don't forget!
Students will also be learning in their classrooms about what it is like for children living in poorer countries from around the school. They will learn about the children in Ethiopia were our fundraising will be going this year to look at what school is like for them.
How can you prepare for Socktober's Crazy Sock Day:
