Student Wellbeing

The excitement is building for the School Ball, Country Week and Dowerin Field Days. There is sometimes social friction associated with the lead up to some events and we encourage students to be reasonable, ask for help and look for resolutions. All students intending to participate in these events have signed an expected behaviour statement, reminding them that they represent the College and that their behaviour here, builds the trust and confidence necessary for staff to take them on excursions. Repeated inappropriate behaviour will unfortunately, exclude some students from excursions. We work closely with all students to assist them to self-regulate and maximise their participation in off-site opportunities.

The incidence of students with phones at school is on the rise. Several students have had their phones confiscated for five days recently. While we understand that it distresses some students to be away from their phones, and have them confiscated, it is Government policy that phones are prohibited from classrooms. We encourage students to be self-disciplined and leave phones in dorm rooms, and come to Student Services if there is a reasonable circumstance where a phone is necessary for a short time.

Open Day is also rapidly approaching and Student Services will have a Wellbeing display next to the Residential Services display. We will have a lot of pictures, descriptions of what we do and who we network with. I encourage you to call past, have a look, and ask questions. Stay safe.
