We have had an exciting start with our Year 11 and 12 students returning last Monday, and Year 10 students on Tuesday. Students were happy to be reunited with friends and teachers to begin a new year of learning.
Study sessions (3.30 pm -5.00 pm) are up and running again! Wednesday (English) and Thursday (Maths). All students are welcome to attend the study sessions in the LRC. Teachers are available to provide students with assistance.
VCE and VCAL Delivery and Assessment Policy handbooks are available to our Year 11 and 12 students. Both of these documents are available as downloads on Compass and the College website. The policies cover everything from attendance requirements, redemption of SACs and CATs, exams, subject changes and expectations of students and staff. If you are the parent of a VCE or VCAL student please take the time to read the policies which can be found by clicking on the links below.
On Monday we had the opportunity to congratulate and celebrate our 2021 Dux students, Mitchell Padula and Jessica Jefferis.
Mitchell was awarded the Townsend Award. The Townsend Award is presented to the student who receives the highest ATAR award in VCE. Jessica was awarded the Fischer Award, this award is presented to the student who is the highest achiever in VCAL.
Mitchell and Jessica spoke to our current Year 12 students about their journey in their final year of education with tips and strategies for success.
Mitchell spoke of his school experiences during primary and secondary school and provide the following tips to students doing their VCE:
Tips
Having been through VCE, and also watching countless study tips videos, I have got three tips for everyone. I honestly wish I had of followed these from the start of the year, it would have made my experience a lot easier and I probably would have gotten a higher score;
Mitchell said "it is possible to have a mullet and get a decent ATAR and also your ATAR does not measure your success with its numerical value, rather, you can say you succeeded if your ATAR gets you to a place that you want to be".
Jessica also spoke of her school journey and how it was a challenge at times and that the transition from primary school to secondary school was a difficult one. Jessica like many students found Year 11 and 12 particularly difficult due to the pandemic and remote learning, but found that by keeping in touch with teachers and working hard she was able to finish her VCAL journey.
Both Mitchell and Jessica thanked their teachers for all the help and assistance they provided over the years.
Congratulations to Mitchell and Jessica. We look forward to seeing what your next chapter brings. We are sure it will be amazing. Well done!
Congratulations to James Caddie for being accepted to perform in Top Acts 2022 the grand finale of the VCE season of excellence which showcases extraordinary performances by VCE musicians. Please check out the music page for more details.

As part of the VCAL Kitchen garden program students had the opportunity of making their own breakfast at school. The students were presented with a selection of ingredients and had to research and develop a well balanced, healthy and nutritious meal.
The Kitchen Garden group are looking forward to working in the vegetable garden and are hoping for a bumper crop of a variety of veggies throughout the seasons.
They kick started the year off with a large supply of blood plums and apricots which were turned into pots of delicious jam. These products will be available for sale once the students complete the packaging and labelling. The proceeds of the sale will help to fund further cooking and growing ventures.
The Kitchen Garden Group is always on the lookout for donations of fresh produce, so if you have a glut of tomatoes, pumpkins or any other items throughout the year we would be happy to turn them into jams, relishes and sauces.
VCAL student Liam Addison baked some delicious cookies with his Learning Support Assistant Tabitha. Well done Liam!
