Year 7

Firstly, a big warm welcome to our Year 7 students and their families for the start of 2022. Day one was full of trepidation and nervousness. As the students made their way into the hub to start the day there was a little bit of awkwardness. As more students arrived, students opened up, started chatting and catching up with friends and met new people.
The start has been great. The students have been brilliant, with some being great leaders and supports for those who don't know many people and others working hard to learn and get to know new systems and processes. We would like to commend everyone for showing great perseverance and resilience in learning how to work their combination locks, some managed to get it first go and others took up to 55 minutes to gain success. Everyone supported each other to achieve a positive outcome.
Another great positive is how fantastic the Year 7 students looked on day 1. Uniform was a stand out!! Great work.
Feedback from students has been really positive about their start to secondary schooling. Lots of smiles and opportunities to meet different people.
For those who are loaning a computer from the College, these will be distributed to students during Week 2, and parent logins for our College Compass portal have been emailed. If you have not received your Compass login details please contact us. Please keep an eye on the key dates on the College calendar. Photos, cross country etc are coming up very soon. Students will have more information about these events in the next week or so.
If you have any concerns, issues or positives about the start of the year, please don't hesitate to contact us in the Year 7 Hub to have a chat.
If, or when, you do need to contact the Hub, we would like to introduce our 2022 team.

Maths
As part of a Math class on teamwork and overcoming challenges, we set our students a task that was ‘impossible’ without the help of both a Blue and a Green (numbers) team working together. Yet as can be seen here, Madeleine Love and Olivia Faithfull managed to solve the problem through sheer effort and mathematical ability. Finding the only pattern of numbers that result in a consistent answer in all the columns and rows.
Humanities
In Year 7 Humanities we have been learning about what history is and the key skills needed to study the subject effectively. Below are some of 7H's Historical Concepts Mind Maps.
