New Staff

Hello my name is Mark Chandler and I have joined BSC in 2022. I will be working in the English and Maths department with the Year 7 students. I also have another role as the Support Program Coordinator which will give me a great opportunity to work with students, teachers and parents across the whole school. My family and I have just relocated from Phillip Island, with a view for our family to enjoy the many splendours of East Gippsland’s great outdoors. I have five kids, two of which have just started at a local Primary school, another one of them is terrorising us as a three year old and the other two are grown up and continuing their journey at Phillip Island. I have been teaching for 16 years in a number of different schools in Melbourne and regional Victoria. I feel fortunate to be part of the BSC community as the students and teachers have made me feel very welcome and the opportunity to be part of a school program that is providing our students with many tremendous opportunities is humbling. Bye for now and go the Mighty Brisbane Lions.
Hello, my name is Jo Sheather. I have joined BSC in 2022 and will be working across both the English and Mathematics departments in the Year 7 hub. I was born here in Bairnsdale but grew up in Mansfield. It was a great place to be a kid.
I went to University at Monash and RMIT, but I keep learning every day. I’ve come from a local primary school and I’m loving the new learning environment at our College and the ‘big kids’. The jokes are much better at secondary school.
You might see me with Basil, a yellow Labrador, at school. He is a trained therapy dog and a vacuum extraordinaire. He can’t help eating everything in sight or smell, but we’re working on it. He’s trying.
In my spare time I like to be with friends and in the garden, beekeeping or getting my hands in the dirt.
I’m excited to be working at such an important hub for the Bairnsdale community, the learning buzz here is infectious!
Hi my name is Steph, I was born and raised in Bairnsdale, the last 2 years I lived in Melbourne working at Kingswood College as the Senior School Administrator. Before that I was working at TAFE Gippsland across multiple departments.
I have relocated back to Bairnsdale as I have missed the country lifestyle. I chose Bairnsdale Secondary College as I was a student back in the day and knew I would enjoy the position of Year 8/9 Hub Support Administrator.
I love to spend my free time with family, friends & walking my dogs (Myah & Immy).
Hello! My name is Maddison Felstead. I will be working across both Math and Science departments at BSC. I’m a local to the area, having grown up in Bairnsdale, so I’m very passionate about the area and the students in it. I moved away to Bendigo while study at university, and now I’m back, living in Eagle Point. I love spending my free time with friends or family, going out camping in the high country, or staying in with a good book and a hot coffee.
Hello, my name is Alexandra Macalister-Bills. I am excited to be joining BSC in 2022 as an English and Drama teacher.
I was lucky enough to grow up in East Gippsland, on Gunaikurnai country, and am delighted to be returning home. For the past 14 years I have lived and worked in Melbourne, originally completing a Bachelor of Arts and then working as a Theatre Producer and Education Manager. I realised a few years ago that the best part of my job was working with young people, so I completed my teaching degree and have not looked back. I am looking forward to working with BSC students and offering them the same opportunities Gippsland gave me, if not more! When I am not at school, I love to spend time with family as well as my kelpie Pepper. I enjoy reading, yoga, stand-up paddle boarding and I am learning to surf. BSC has been an incredibly welcoming and positive place so far and I can’t wait for the year ahead.
