Leadership Report

Welcome to 2022 at Magill School!

It has been the most unusual start to the school year with some students  at school and others learning from home. If the past few years has taught us anything, it's be prepared for anything!

Despite the change, the year has started extremely well. I am proud of Magill Staff's ability to quickly plan and prepare for the beginning of the year as well as get up to speed in using online technologies needed for remote learning.

I'm equally  proud of our students and families for their efforts in engaging in the remote learning opportunities being offered by teachers.

I'm looking forward to having everyone back at school on Monday as we return to some sense of normality.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new students and families to Magill School. I'm confident that you will enjoy being part of the vibrant and diverse community.

I would also like to welcome our new staff to the school. Daniela Lawlor, our new Deputy Principal and Julie Greenfield who is teaching  year 5 in F4 this year.

This year will be the first year that our specialist programs will run from Reception to Year 6.  The new structure and teams are:

Performing ArtsPhysical EducationChinese (Mandarin)Science

Georgea Champion

Teena Nichols

Milda Fahey

Florin Velea

Deana Agalidis

Mai Xie

Ivy Liu

Schona Murray

Philippa Tierney

Dani Bator

Over the coming days teachers will send home information about their class structures and routines. All teachers now use Seesaw as their main communication tool but will also use email at times.  It's important to have a thorough read though of all the information provided so that you are up to speed with what's going on in your child's class.

Current restrictions rule out many of our beginning of year events but we are planning to use our new found digital skills to present our Acquaintance Night online. More information about this will be distributed next week.

Let's hope the next few weeks go smoothly and that we can settle into a wonderful year of learning at Magill.

Kind regards,

John Iannunzio
