Teaching and Learning

Bounceback and student agency

Now that students are back for face to face teaching and learning they have been engaged in developing social skills as a class group though our Bounceback program, developing their skills to work well in a class group and navigate the social challenges of friendship groups, resilience, co operation etc.

Students have also been an important part of developing their learning spaces with the teachers so that they have real ownership of their classroom spaces. Initial assessments in literacy and numeracy have begun in order to inform differentiated and targeted teaching for the wide range of abilities and getting to know you activities support teachers to personalise learning to make it as engaging and fun as they can.

Specialist Lessons

Many of the specialist lessons (PE, Vietnamese, Visual Arts and Music) have been outside so far this term as students explore the wide range of learning environments that we have at our school. Maximising the access to outside learning aims to further reduce the risks associated with Covid in situations where it is challenging to socially distance. Students have embraced different learning opportunities and are already demonstrating their creativity and broad range of skills.

Indigenous Language and Culture

This year we will also be developing an Indigenous Language and Culture room and aim to connect with Indulkana Anangu School in the APY Lands to provide extended language and cultural learning opportunities through first nations educators. We aim to connect with families to develop this space. Please contact Kayleen Wilson or Danny Ellis in the first instance for more information.
