10,000 PLUS BOTTLE TOPS FOR HELPING HANDS

The Helping Hands project concluded last term with the Primary students collecting 10,000 bottle tops and raising $170 to go towards helping children who have lost hands being provided with prosthetic hands made from recycled bottle tops. This project was initiated by Akesh Weerakoon in Year 2 and the Year 4 House Captains ran the collection and 'Crazy Hat and Hand Day' to conclude the project. Their aim was to raise 1000 bottle caps for two prosthetic hands, they raised 10,149! This will produce 20 hands for children in need! we are so proud of our students and their heart for helping others.

ST ANDREWS CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION

Unfortunately St Andrews had a minor break-in recently, however that didn't stop the Year 4s from trying to solve the crime.  Coincidently, the Year 4s happened to be studying crime scene investigations, and were able to experience a real life situation that occurred a few classrooms down. At first the students thought it was a set-up by Mrs Hughes but then realised it was all too real.

What a real CSI experience.

A BIG THANK YOU to the Knox Police officers for their patience and their time spent with the students while trying to investigate the crime.

'STARS OF THE SEA'

The Prep classes loved learning about some of the amazing sea animals our God has made. We were visited by Tia from Reptile Encounters who showed us many fish and invertebrates. We enjoyed touching sea stars and thought calling them “cookies” was very appropriate. We “met” the gorgeous “PJ” a Port Jackson shark, held some sea snails, hunted for seahorses as they swam among seaweed, marveled at the (very poisonous) puffer fish, learnt about “Sandy” a leather jacket fish and didn’t get too close to “Pinchy” the crab. Lots of fun in Prep!

'STAY LATE' MEANS HEAPS OF FUN!

The Year 2s enjoyed their 'Stay Late' event on Friday the 8th of November. It was an afternoon jammed packed and full of fun including mug painting, sequins Christmas balls, play-dough making, STEM, sport, soccer and ending in a scavenger hunt and a sausage sizzle!
