In November this year, Year 7 and 8 students from St Andrews again took on the Eco Challenge in teams of two. The Challenge annually provides an exciting and authentic learning experience for students through the online strategic game, 'Aqua Republica', where they explore issues and solutions relating to water management and sustainable development. This year the competition was restricted to entries from Australia only.

Like last year, St Andrews came in as the overall winners, with our teams coming first, second, third, sixth, seventh, ninth and tenth in Australia.

'WALK TO SCHOOL' & 'CRAZY SOCK' DAY

On Tuesday 15th October St Andrews Christian College students, teachers, parents and friends donned their crazy socks and joined in the Vic Health initiative “Walk to School Day”. Three groups meet at Knox Shopping Centre Post Office, Walker Reserve and the Riddell Road Pre-School to undertake a 15 minute walk to the College. On arrival each group was greeted by 'Lottie' the Walk to School mascot and the Mayor of Knox Jake Keogh. It was a fun way to start the day and great way to get the heart pumping.

BIG TIME NBL BASKETBALL HITS OUR COURT

It was an exciting day for our College basketball fans to have a visit from the new NBL basketball team the South Eastern Phoenix. The whole college assembled in the gym to watch and participate in a fun exhibition game and then receive some expert  coaching series of specialist clinics.

Some brave students took up the challenge to test their skill against the Phoenix players and did surprisingly well.

Everyone was amazed at the skill of the Phoenix players and was impressed by their patience and generosity, not to mention their height - WOW!

Thanks to Ms Holland for organising the event and to Phoenix for their great sense of fun, we'd love to see you again.

ST ANDREWS COMMUNITY IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE THROUGH SHOEBOX

Thanks to the generosity of our St Andrews College community we were able to deliver 78 shoeboxes to a collection centre in Bayswater.

The boxes will be checked (custom’s requirement) and then delivered to Samaritan’s Purse for their 'Operation Christmas Child' Project.

These Shoebox gifts will make a phenomenal difference in the lives of disadvantaged children all over the world.

Please keep praying for the children and their communities.

IT'S ALWAYS SAD TO SAY GOODBYE

It is always sad to say goodbye to people who have been part of the family at St Andrews Christian College. Three of the staff leaving are doing so because of the distance they need to travel to the College from their home.

So, we sadly say farewell to the following staff and thank them for all they have contributed to the College over their time at St Andrews. We pray blessings over them, their families and their next ventures!

  • Staff Leaving at the end of the year
  • Merrick Brewer
  • Chantel Rodger
  • Kylie O’Donnell
  • Dan Ferguson – Study leave at MST
  • Lauren Gaschk – Maternity leave

We welcome the following new staff for the new year:

  • New Staff for 2020
  • Tayla Moss – Year 2
  • Fiona Dobrzynski – English teacher for Senior School
  • Eunice Ko – Maths/Science teacher for MS/SS

A FEW FAREWELL WORDS FROM MR BREWER

Dear Parents,

I am writing to inform the College Community that I will be leaving at the end of the year.

The main reason for leaving is the extensive hours of travel that I undertake every day from Warragul.

I have been a part of the St Andrews Christian College community for 7 years and have enjoyed getting to know you all.

I came here seven years ago from Chairo Christian School to head up the new Middle School and then took on the role of Head of Learning and Teaching.

I have so enjoyed the opportunities and challenges that have come as a part of the responsibilities of both these roles.

One of the strengths of the College that I have especially appreciated, is the love for serving God that is so evident throughout all the community.

I have developed many special relationships here that I am hoping will continue. Thank you all for your encouragement and support in so many ways. I will sadly miss the community of St Andrews.

Yours in Christ,

Merrick Brewer
