VCE NEWS
What a year for Collingwood College. It seems so long ago that I was writing about the last day of Year 12 and wishing our students good luck for the exams, but now it is all over. Students have sat the exams and now the results are in. These results reflect an excellent year for students at Collingwood College; but I hasten to add that these numbers are simply that, numbers. They are a score or ranking that tells us only how a student is judged to have gone in a subject. It doesn't tell us how they are there for their family and friends. It doesn’t tell us about the sausages they have cooked at SRC stalls, or children’s faces they have painted. It doesn’t describe the trip to China or the camp or the hike. Collingwood College is a school with a special community and provides numerous opportunities for our students, way beyond the number at the end of VCE. But successes are worth celebrating so with that introduction, here’s to the numbers.
The dux of the College is Madeleine Gome, our congratulations to Meg and her support network of teachers, friends, and not to mention, family.
Almost half of the students received an ATAR of over 70.
Individual subjects have had an increased average score - continuing a growth trend over the last few years
Our students have proved a consistency whether they are studying a subject at Collingwood College or at Fitzroy High School.
With a wider range of subjects through our partnership, students have access to a huge range of subjects, allowing us to help guide them into the subjects they like. This, in turn, will help them get to their post secondary goals.
After all of that, I’d like to take the opportunity to with the Collingwood College community a happy and safe festive season. Enjoy the holidays.
PS. Students - do your holiday homework!

YEAR 8 CLASSES VISIT CHINESE RESTAURANT
In Term 4, Year 8 students learned major vocabulary and sentences to express their favourite food and drink in Chinese. They went to a Chinese restaurant to taste the real Chinese food and review what they had learnt in class.
