VCE

STEP Program

The commencement of semester 2 has seen the delivery of our second study skills modules presented by Elevate Education.  Over the past few weeks our year 12 students have started to think about their end of year exams which this year commence on Wednesday 30th October.  As a result this terms module was titled “Ace your exams” and gave students some specific tips and tricks in best preparing and studying for this important time of the year.

At the same time year 11 students have been undertaking their own module relating to “Time Management”.  Focusing on assisting students to best plan out their weekly schedules and allocate time to such things as study, work, recreation and family into their already busy weeks with the aim of creating a well-rounded and balance school/life relationship.  This will not only be essential for their success for the remainder of 2019 but in 2020 and their final year of schooling.

Year 11 into 12 VCE course counselling

On Wednesday 24th July our year 11 VCE students partook in their individual course counselling sessions designed to assist students to select a course for their final year of school.  Based around career aspirations, potential university and TAFE courses, interests and individual skill sets these interviews proved once again to be a vital piece of the puzzle in guiding our students through their educational journey.  With over 80% of our year 11 students attending the day it now allows both the students and the college to best prepare for their year 12 program in 2020.  For those year 11 VCE students that did not attend course counselling it is imperative that you book a counselling session with one of our careers practitioners in the coming weeks to ensure your place in your desired course.

Holiday Classes.

Once again to best support our students and prepare them for their end of year external exams Cranbourne Secondary College VCE staff will be running exam revision sessions during the second week of the September school holidays (30th September – 4th October).  It is highly encourage that students attend all sessions relevant to their subjects this year to best prepare them for the exams ahead.  Please be mindful of these dates and times when making plans during this holiday period.

Progress reports and Parent teacher interviews.

Our next round of progress reports will be released at the end of week four.  This is another opportunity for VCE teachers to accurately communicate with parents and students on their academic progress thus far in units 2 and 4.  With the end of the year literally only a couple of months away it is vital that students use these reports to help set goals to finish off the year as positively as possible.  Another important opportunity for valuable feedback is at our next round of parent teacher interviews.  This term these interviews will run on Tuesday 10th September.  It is highly recommended that all students and their parents/guardians make the time to meet with teachers to discuss their child’s progress in their current courses.  Parent teacher bookings will be able to be made on compass, date to be confirmed.

Valedictory dinner – Save the date.

To celebrate another year of achievements our annual valedictory dinner will be held on Tuesday 17th December at The Grand on Cathies Lane, Wantirna South.  We are still working through the final logistics with ticket purchasing and other relevant information to be distributed to students shortly.
