Acting Principal's Report

Changes to Concord School Staffing
This week we welcome back Sam Browne our Business Manager who is slowly returning from her family leave. Sam has been coming in 3 days a week for the past two weeks and will start back full time on the 2nd of September.
We also congratulate Trish Townsend who has vacated the Business Manager post. Trish is moving on to John Fawkner College. I would like to say a few words about Trish who in a very short time has made a real difference here at Concord. We are so fortunate to have an amazing, high performing administration team here at Concord and Trish lived up to the very high expectations left by her predecessor. Trish will be missed but I know she will make an enormous difference to the finances over at John Fawkner. Please join me in thanking Trish for her time here at Concord.
Book Week Celebrations
As you already know we have booked in an author visit for Thursday the 22nd of August.
Unfortunately dates for this were not known until the last minute as most schools in Victoria are negotiating times with publishing companies. We did place a permission and cost form on Compass last week. No students will miss out on this extremely valuable experience but it would be extremely helpful if you were able to pay the $5.00 cost at your earliest convenience.
I do hope to see you coming in during our book club festivities. It is a wonderful time to simply celebrate the joy of reading.
I look forward to seeing how everyone looks on dress up day. I know my costume is almost ready.
Concord Developed Parent Survey
We were extremely pleased to have 66 respondents to our very own Concord parent survey. As you know this survey focussed on transitions, reporting/IEPs, allied health and a general comments section. I was personally really pleased with the information that we were able to gather to help us to make the educational experience at Concord even better. We have already taken the results to school council and some significant changes will be undertaken throughout the school in the coming months and the New Year. A really big thanks to all the parents who responded to our survey. With your help we will be able to ensure that all of our students continue to be ‘the best they can be’.
Lunchtime Clubs at Concord
We have really increased the number of lunchtime clubs offered at Concord School this term. We still have traditional sporting clubs but the more passive clubs have also been introduced. Library club, radio club, newspaper club and Minecraft club have been very popular additions and I urge you to chat to your child about how the clubs are working for them. We all know that the structured play times can really support our students to feel safe in their space and easily engage with content.
Principal Award- Marcus Lee
Marcus has applied an incredible effort towards his work and behaviour this year. Every morning Marcus has greeted staff and students in PAS. He is increasing his verbal communication by attempting to put his answers and comments into sentences.
Marcus has shown an awareness of people’s facial expressions and is concerned when someone looks sad or angry. He has used his initiative in class such as asking if he can do a quiet activity when he has finished his work.
Marcus has shown whole body listening and interest in lessons. He puts in his best effort when completing his work. He will take extra care to write and colour neatly. Marcus loves to share his drawings with the class.
Great job Marcus!
