Battle for Australia

by Cadet E. Scott, Cadet J. Wang and Cadet M. Garrett

Last Wednesday the 4th of September, around 40 cadets from 414 Squadron travelled to the Shrine of Remembrance to commemorate the Battle for Australia. The Battle for Australia went from 1942-1946. Every year on the first Wednesday of September, there is a ceremony held at the Shrine of Remembrance. We got to march with 415 Squadron behind the Air Force band and represent AAFC on this memorable day.

The three of us have never been to an event quite like this. There were representatives from the Air Force, Navy, Army and even two men who fought in the battle of Australia. Students from schools all around Victoria came to pay their respects and learn what happened in the past. We really enjoyed this experience as we put all of our hard work in Drill and Service knowledge to the test. This event will definitely be one that we will all cherish for the rest of our lives.
