Middles worked hard on their Volcano Projects

Middle School Research by Sienna Light and Mackenzie Kerr

The Middle School have been doing research about volcanoes to create an InfoGraph. We have been practicing skimming and scanning to find facts, some of the facts people discovered are fascinating!

  • There are more than 500 active volcanoes right now WOW! That's a lot of volcanoes!
  • Magma is hotter than lava
  • Molten rock is below the surface of the earth
  • The danger area around a volcano covers about a 20mile radius
  • Liquid rock is called magma when it is under the earth’s surface and called lava once it leaves the volcano
  • There are 3 major kinds of volcanoes active , dormant , extinct
  • The oldest volcano is not on earth
  • Volcanoes release water for us to drink
  • Volcanoes basically always cause destruction
  • 76% of volcanoes one earth are found in a area in the pacific ocean known as the the ring of fire
  • Ash from volcanoes can spark lightning
  • Volcanoes created Hawaii
  • The heat inside an active volcano is 1,200 degrees c. Water boils at 100 degrees celsius! Wow!
  • Volcano is about 350,000 years old
  • Yellowstone super volcano can destroy the world (if it erupted
  • Ash from volcanoes has a chance to spark lighting blue lava spewing volcano
  • Volcanoes mostly appear at the edge of tectonic plates which are the plates that connect the earth together
  • The tallest volcano in the solar system is not on the earth it is on mars! It is called Olympus Mons

We are so clever! Look at some of our InfoGraphs!

Great Art Work from Home

Ms Bingham & Mrs Emery have been loving the wonderful art work that has been submitted

Ivy chose to do one of the Performing Arts specialist activities. She made a water glass Xylophone, and played jingle bells!
