IDAHOBIT Day

Last week we celebrated International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).  This day is a very important part of our school calendar as it is a time where we stop and celebrate diversity and call out discrimination towards members of the LGBTIQ+ community. IDAHOBIT Day is also a time where we publicly stand beside our LGBTIQ+ colleagues, mates, and students with a clear message…

“We stand with you!” On the day students and external guests ran a BBQ, stalls and activities to promote diversity and inclusion across our school community. However, it is important we ensure every day is IDAHOBIT day and we say no to all forms of discrimination each and every day!

The school has also developed a second call-it-out guide to support students with more information and support to call out LGBTQIA+ discrimination. This guide was distributed to students. Our first guide supported students to call out sexism and gender based discrimination. We thank all who were involved in IDAHOBIT day and as a school we remain committed to ensuring everyone at our school feels Connected, Protected, and Respected and doesn't experience discrimination.

and finally...

Please take care of yourselves during this period and know that we are here to support you in any and every way we can.
