VET Chinese

Students of Chinese language at Northcote High School do their studies as VET (Vocational Education and Training) subjects in Years 9 and 10. Certificate 2 in Applied Languages is done over two years in Years 9 and 10. Certificate 3 in Applied Languages is done over two years in Years 11 and 12.

The VET program allows students to focus on those aspects of the language that have applications in the work place. In Applied Languages there is therefore no focus on scored assessment and exams. Both Certificates 2 and 3 are nationally accredited and give students an added qualification to add to their VCE or VCAL certificates.

The students pictured here have received Certificate 2. Now in Year 11, they have embarked on the next stage of their language journey in Certificate 3.
