Celebrating IDAHOBIT Day, Monday 17th May

IDAHOBIT day is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, Biphobia and discrimination against people with an intersex condition. The day raises awareness of the violence and discrimination against LGBTIQ+ communities worldwide. At Brentwood we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school that supports all members of our community and today it has been great to see many of our staff and students supporting IDAHOBIT day by wearing rainbow clothing.

NAPLAN 2021

Last week our Year 7 and 9 students sat their NAPLAN tests covering language conventions, writing, reading and numeracy. We would like to congratulate all our students for the way in which they undertook the tests and for doing their absolute best. Once the tests have been marked, results will be sent to the school and we will forward them onto parents. NAPLAN is just one of the data points we use to gauge where are students are at and the next steps they need to take on their learning journey.

Learning Walks, Wednesday 19th May

On Wednesday, May 19, the School Improvement Team (SIT) and staff volunteers will be undertaking our first Learning Walk for 2021. This will involve 8 groups of 2 staff visiting 3 different classes in a single period for 15 minutes each. This will be a total of 24 randomly selected classes across all year levels throughout the day. The focus of the walk is for the participants to learn about what students are doing in class.

When learning walk participants visit a class they will be doing two things:

Observing the students engaging with the learning task/activity going on.

Speak to as many students as they can about what they are doing in class.

This will provide valuable feedback to us with regards to our continued improvement against our goals in the Annual Implementation Plan.
