PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

School Review Update:

As part of the Improvement Cycle, Victorian Government schools undertake a Review every four years to provide an independent analysis of the school's performance against the goals and targets in our school’s strategic plan. The formal review also evaluates our school's strengths, areas for improvement and the impact of its improvement efforts.

Our School Review panel consists of our school leaders (Principal, Assistant Principal, Leading Teacher,  Literacy & Numeracy Leaders and SWPBS Leader), the DET Senior Education Improvement Leader (SEIL), the School Council president (or nominee) and two challenge partners (usually Principals in other schools).

Our school reviewer, Wendy Larcombe, kicked off the Review process on Tuesday, which was day one – known as Validation Day.  This was a great day where we got to delve into our Pre-Review Self Evaluation document,  analyse a 4 year collection of data, visit and observe classrooms in action and interview some staff and students.

Next week Wendy will be back for 2 days of field work. These days involve further interviews with staff, students and parents about everything ‘Echuca East’.

We welcome parents to come along to our Parent Forum next Wednesday the 26th of May commencing at 8:45 in the Arts Centre, to share your thoughts and ideas on our great school with Wendy and the team to attend please register with this link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc4Rxrb7cd_h7VtX42xWv8tGlIS2hA_8BV0brXEQxQkxq3zFg/viewform. On the 3rd of  June the Review Panel meet again for the final day. This will conclude the Review Process which will provide us with rich information to move forward and create our new 4 year Strategic Plan.

Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS):

We want your students to tell us what they think!  We value student voice as a means to improving student engagement, wellbeing, and quality instruction, and are conducting a survey to find out what your child thinks of our school.

The AtoSS is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education and Training to assist our school to gain an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. Students will be asked about their thoughts and feelings in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, bullying and life in general.

Students from Year 4 to 6 at our school will participate in the survey. Your child will complete the survey online during school hours using a purpose built secure online survey tool.  It is important to note that we are not in any way “testing” your child. It is purely to get an insight into our students perceptions of our school so we can continue to improve and further cater for their learning needs.

This year the Attitudes to School survey will be conducted at our school over the period Monday 26 May to Friday 11 June. The survey takes around 20-45 minutes to complete and will occur during your child's class time. The survey results will be returned to the school in report format. All survey data that is made available, are for groups (Year Levels) of students only,  no individual student can be identified.
