World Environment Day on Saturday 5 June

World Environment Day is observed on June 5 every year. Outside of our homes is the actual home we all live in, and preserving it for future generations is more crucial than ever.

Banyule City Council  ran two online tour sessions of the local Material Recovery Facility (Recycling) in Bellfield. That is where household recycling bin contents end up.

It  showed how the different materials are separated (by conveyors, sorting machines magnets etc) and the do's and don'ts of recycling.

Although unfortunately we missed getting the virtual links out this time around there will probably be other opportunities. There is some interesting information on this link : www.banyule.vic.gov.au/MRF  and here at  https://nationaltoday.com/world-environment-day/

COVID Vaccines for parents of children with a disability

Parent Help Desk

In response to new COVID19 restrictions, YarraMe School has established a Parent Help Desk for parents and carers, to assist in supporting children with complex needs who are learning from home.

YarraMe's Help Desk http://www.yarrame.vic.edu.au/help-desk.html  can assist with:

•          understanding a child's behaviour

•          providing personalised one to one telephone consultation with a special education               teacher

•          discussion of a pathway for the family to seek formal diagnosis of learning                                 disabilities

•          discussion about behavioural support strategies

•          advice on setting up learning environments

•          providing targeted resources

•          referral to external services.

The purpose of this service is to provide parents and carers with the opportunity to discuss their child's behaviours, which may be impeding their ability to learn at home.

The Help Desk can also help parents and carers to successfully navigate potential intervention pathways for their child.
