Lockdown and schools

Dear community

We are ALL doing our very best to keep remote learning as smooth as possible, but I continue to encourage you to do what works for your family and be mindful of what you can do to support your children and family to stay mentally, physically and emotionally fit and strong.

The RACV produced this good article last year, well worth a read and some good reminders for all of us.

Six expert tips to bolster kids’ mental health during the COVID-19 crisis.

CIRCUIT BREAKER RESTRICTIONS

Attached is the most recently published document regarding restrictions and definitions of essential workers. They apply to this week so while there have been some minor changes to secondary school attendance the references to primary school remain the same.

At IPS we will continue to run a skeleton crew of staff at school to supervise the learning of children where both parents and or carers are considered authorised workers as listed in the attachment and who cannot work from home.. Those needing this service for next week will need to contact the school office on 9499 1880.

COVID-19 vaccination – Update

Parents of a child with a disability are now eligible to access Covid vaccinations.

Evidence can include NDIS plan and a letter of diagnosis from the paediatrician.

See below for more information:

"All Victorians aged 40 or over are now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine.

Parents and carers of children with disability can access the Pfizer vaccine at Victorian Mass Vaccination Centres.

To be eligible, you must be the parent/carer of a child with cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, intellectual disability, or other significant disability.

You may need to provide evidence of your child’s disability or medical condition and your role as a parent/carer. This could be a letter from your GP, your child’s NDIS Plan or proof that you receive Carer Allowance or Carer Payment.

If you don’t receive these payments you can complete an Eligibility Declaration Form."

Here is the advice from the Association for children with a disability.

Reasons to leave home.

On a positive note

“Inside Ivanhoe” is looking for  contributions of student work and student activity that is fit to be shared so I have reactivated the only email that is used for this purpose – it goes straight to me ivanhoeprimaryvic@gmail.com and will be open for the week.

At the time of publication I have already received some student contributions. Check them out on the Student Voice page.

Let’s keep our community thriving and share our successes and / or funny moments and I’ll do my best to publish them in next week’s edition of “Inside Ivanhoe” our online newsletter.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Kent
