Principal's Message
Words from the College Principal, Issue 4, Term 2, 2025.
Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh.
Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
As Term 2 draws to a close, we are now halfway through the academic year, Alhamdulillah. It has been a rich and meaningful term, filled with memorable events and opportunities for spiritual, academic, and personal growth. From our official Quran Competition Awards Night and Hajj Week to Primary Literacy Week, the Meet the Professionals evening, and various camps, it has been a truly rewarding few months for our students.
ICOM’s annual Meet the Professional’s evening took place earlier this term, offering our Year 12 students a valuable opportunity to connect with professionals from a wide range of industries. The event encouraged meaningful conversations and insightful guidance on career pathways, as students engaged with guests including several of our own alumni, now established in their respective fields. It was inspiring to see our students gain real world perspectives and envision the possibilities that lie ahead, Insha Allah.
Our Quran Competition Awards Night was a truly memorable and spiritually uplifting occasion, held in recognition of our students’ devotion to the Noble Quran. The evening was enriched with heartfelt nasheeds, a soulful adhan recitation, and an eloquent khutba performance, each reflecting the deep love and reverence our students hold for the words of Allah (SWT).
This year we had the privilege of formally recognising four students who completed their memorisation of the Quran and were honoured as Hafiz. This is a profound milestone, one that carries immense reward in both this life and the Hereafter. I pray that Allah (SWT) makes the Quran a lifelong companion for our students, and a source of guidance, light and healing in all they do. Ameen.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all staff who worked tirelessly to prepare and deliver such a significant and spiritually enriching event. I also thank our parents for your continued support, encouragement and partnership in nurturing a love for the Quran in your children. May Allah (SWT) reward you all abundantly.
This term, students across both Primary and Secondary schools took part in a beautiful range of activities in celebration of Hajj. From camel rides that evoked the experience of desert travel to circling a beautifully constructed Kaba display, every activity was thoughtfully designed to instil a deeper understanding and appreciation of this sacred pillar of Islam.
Hajj Dress Up Day added to the spirit of the week, with students coming to school in their best Islamic outfits, helping bring the atmosphere of Hajj to life. Alhamdullilah, it was uplifting to witness students connect so meaningfully with this important part of our faith. The week culminated in the celebration of Eid, a time of gratitude, reflection, and community. With the school being closed for an extra-long weekend, I pray that all families were blessed with peace, happiness, and togetherness during this special occasion.
Our Primary students finished off the term by immersing themselves in the joy of reading and storytelling as part of our much-anticipated Literacy Week. With this year’s theme “Book an Adventure”, the week was filled with creative, engaging and meaningful opportunities for students to explore the world of literature.
From author incursions and storytelling sessions to bookmark decorating, interactive performances and lunchtime competitions, each day brought a new way for students to connect with books and express their creativity. The week concluded with a special Literacy Week Assembly and Character Dress-Up Day. The atmosphere was full of imagination and excitement as we celebrated the power of stories and the creativity they inspire. A big thank you to all staff, SRC students and special guests who brought this week to life so wonderfully.
Our Secondary students concluded the term by completing their End of Semester 1 exams, marking an important milestone in their academic journey. Alhamdulillah, they approached this period with focus, maturity, and resilience. I commend them for their efforts and hope the upcoming break provides a chance to unwind and recharge, Insha Allah.
This week, our Year 9 ILIAS students attended the ILIAS Quran Camp centered on strengthening students' connection to the Quran and Sunnah. Alhamdullilah, the camp offered a meaningful experience that combined reflection and spiritual growth. Meanwhile, our Year 12 students took part in their Study Camp at the Mornington Peninsula. The program included workshops on time management, exam preparation, and goal setting, designed to support them as they prepare for the final stretch of their Year 12 journey.
May Allah (SWT) continue to guide and bless our students, staff and families as we prepare to return for the second half of the academic year. Thank you for your continued support. Whether you're staying close to home or heading off on a trip, I wish you all a safe, peaceful, and enjoyable break, Insha Allah.
