An Eventful Term

What an interesting term we have had! As we are all aware, part way into the term we fell back into online learning and our creative teachers facilitated the continuity of learning for our students through the use of learning grids and Zoom meetings. We are very proud of the way in which our students and staff pivoted smoothly back into the online learning environment.

When our students returned back onsite last Friday 11 June we held ‘Friday Fun’ activities in the morning to assist students with the transition back onsite and re-connect with their classmates and teachers. It was wonderful to see all of the happy and smiling faces!

Student Support Group Meetings (SSGs)

Throughout the last two weeks, SSGs have been held for various students across the College. These meetings have been an opportunity to reflect upon goals set earlier in the year and achievements made. Thank you to all parents/guardians, students and staff who have been involved and have been a big part in making these SSGs successful and positive for all the students.

Attitudes to School Survey (AToSS)

The Attitudes to School Survey is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education and Training to assist schools in gaining an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. The survey will be completed by our students in Years 4 – 9 during the last two weeks of Term 2. The results from AtoSS will provide the College with information and data which will shape our future directions.

Brookside Parents and Friends Committee (PFC) Pie Drive

The Brookside PFC are working in collaboration with Tony’s Pies of Essendon to conduct an upcoming Pie Drive, where families will have the opportunity to order from a range of freshly baked pies, pasties, quiches and sausage rolls. The proceeds from this exciting fundraiser will go towards an information media TV which will be kept in the foyer of reception. Look out for the order form which will be coming home with the eldest child from each family next week!

Semester One Reports

Teachers have been very busy this term completing Semester One reports for their students. These reports provide parents/guardians with information on the progress of their child/ren throughout the first half of the year across all subjects, and will be published on Wednesday 23 June via Compass.

Parent Teacher Interviews – Save the Date!

Parent/teacher Interviews will be held on Tuesday 20 July. Further information and details on booking parent/interview times will be available at the beginning of Term 3.

End of Term Early Dismissal

The last day of Term 2 is Friday 25 June, and students will be dismissed at 2:15pm on this day.

We look forward to seeing everyone back on the first day of Term 3, Monday 12 July.

As this will be the final newsletter for Term Two, we would like to take the opportunity to wish our students an enjoyable break. We hope that you all get to share some good quality family time!

Take care and stay safe,

The Executive Team
