Year 3 and 4 Learning Moments

Year 4D
This week in Science, the year fours have been conducting experiments to determine the effect of wind on seed dispersement, as part of their unit on life cycles. In this activity the students were also learning about independent and dependent variables.
Year 3N
In English, we are looking at author Roald Dahl and how he writes. We are learning about character development and how to use adjectives in our stories. In class, Ms Scofield is reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
In Mathematics, we can practice subtraction and addition of two and three digit numbers by playing a new game called Mathopoly.
Year 3S
In Mathematics class, students use educational board games to practice reading, writing and interpreting mathematical statements involving addition, subtraction and equal signs. This makes children’s learning engaging and fun.
In Science class students are learning about the difference between seven animal groups. They are classifying animals based on the observable features different animal groups have. This has laid foundation for their animal research inquiry task.
In Humanities, students explore our country - Australia. They are incorporating various resources such as books , online resources and maps to complete their inquiry based research about Australia. They learn to identify and locate all the states and territories, capital cities and major landmarks in Australia.
Reading is one of the most important parts of children’s learning and development. Students use our comfortable reading corner to explore books.
