Learning Moments from Specialist Subjects

Art

This term Year 4 students are using various art mediums and materials. They are engaged in a 3-session project titled “First Fleet: Painting without brushes”. They first plan their art piece, focusing on sketching a clipper ship and then we discuss and view various Indigenous Art. Students design and challenge themselves to think of creative ways to represent this form or art in their final painting. 

Music 

In Music this term, we have been looking at rhythm and beat. We have enjoyed using the untuned percussion instruments to explore rhythms and beats and the Grade One and Two students have enjoyed creating their own rhythms using the drumsticks.

Preps have also enjoyed music, especially when we have used the parachute to explore how music can be fast and slow and loud and soft.

Sports

In Physical Education we have been learning about understanding movement by exploring games and drills related to basketball and soccer. We have also been playing team based games which involve communicating and cooperating with teammates.
