Early Stage 1 (Kinder) Science

 In Science this term, students in Early Stage 1 have been investigating the ‘Material World’.  We have explored the concept of natural and built (human made) objects.  We also explored and investigated what ‘materials’ things are made of, e.g. plastic, metal, wood, glass. We described the properties of different materials - hard, soft, stretchy, flexible. 

As part of our design activities we had to use a variety of materials to make a house.  We used marshmallows, cards, pop sticks, paper straws

Stage 1 Science

In Science this term, students in Stage 1 have been investigating the ‘Material World’.  We have explored the concept of different types of materials and their properties.  We identified objects made from plastic  plastic, metal, wood, and glass. We also pulled apart a ‘face mask’ to investigate the different fabric materials it is made from and properties of the different fabrics, e.g. water resistant, absorbent, soft, smooth, rough. 

As part of our design activities we used what we had learned about different fabrics to make a three layer face mask.   These are the pictures of the face masks that we made.
